4 Corners Team Retreat 2026

At 4 Corners, our team works remotely across various locations, collaborating daily on complex forensic accounting matters through virtual meetings, emails, and messages. At the end of April and beginning of May 2026, we had the opportunity to do something special — gather in person for the very first time as a team! All 10 of us met up in Bellevue, Washington, for our first official 4 Corners team retreat.
Our very talented Project Coordinator, Hanna McKee (back row, second from right), created a handmade 4 Corners pottery mug for each member of our team. Another talented team member, Office Manager Kristi Kesler, captured our wonderful team photos. Thank you, Hanna and Kristi!
Exploring Together
We kicked off the retreat by taking a stroll through Kelsey Creek Farm where we enjoyed the sunny weather, animals, and face-to-face conversations. It was great to spend time together in person instead of through a computer screen! Eli got to show off his selfie-taking skills.
Solving Problems Together (Escape Room Edition)
No retreat is complete without some team-building activities! We did an escape room challenge, which felt especially fitting for a team of forensic accountants. Analyzing clues, thinking critically, and working collaboratively under pressure are all things we do regularly at work, but this time financial records were swapped for hidden keys, puzzles, and a Jumanji-style game board!
The experience highlighted how well our team works together and resulted in plenty of laughs as we worked our way through the clues.
Fondue Dinner
We celebrated the birthday of our wonderful Office Manager, Kristi Kesler, with a team dinner at The Melting Pot. After delicious fondue to start, some unexpected calls for teamwork (passing skewers around for cooking in various pots and back again; fishing for lost potatoes, etc.), and lots of laughter, we hosted our own “Cornies” award ceremony, with each team member receiving a personalized certificate. Awards included things like “Multitasking Master,” “Spreadsheet Sorceress,” and “Rookie of the Year (Preseason Edition).”
We also honored Eli (founder, principal, and chief selfie-taker of 4 Corners) with some words of appreciation from the team. We wouldn’t be here without him!
Trying Something New with Glassblowing
One of the most unique parts of the retreat was a hands-on glassblowing experience at Art by Fire in Issaquah. Each member of our team got to choose colors for and craft their very own glass ornament. Watching molten glass transform into finished pieces was fascinating! It was a great opportunity for everyone to receive a tangible reminder of our time together.
Mariners Game
One of the highlights of the retreat was attending a Mariners game together! Randy Johnson (the Big Unit himself) was in attendance at the game, in anticipation of his number retirement ceremony the following day. Attendees received commemorative 80s-style jerseys to mark the occasion.
A high-energy crowd, good food and drinks, and the opportunity to spend time together outside a work setting was the perfect way to connect as a group, along with the significant others, friends, and family who joined as guests. Go Mariners!
More Than a Retreat
As a remote firm, opportunities like this are incredibly valuable. While technology allows us to work seamlessly together from different places, there’s something truly meaningful about finally meeting the people you collaborate with every day. Some of our best moments of the retreat were while simply sitting down and playing board games together or having a conversation on a sunny dock in Kirkland.
We came away from the retreat feeling more connected, energized, and grateful for the team we’ve built — and we’re already looking forward to the opportunity to get together again!
